KAIST How to Get to KAIST from Incheon Airport or from Gimpo Airport
  • Transportation Overview

    Way 1. Bus

    • Incheon Airport - Terminal 1 &2 -

      You can take a taxi from Government Complex Bus Stop to KAIST directly. It also takes about 20 minutes.

  • Step 1
    Terminal 1

    After collecting your luggage, make an exit to gate 9D or 11E.
    Check the bus timetable at the following link.

  • Step 2

    Go to the ticketing offices marked on the map, and then go to the Bus stop 11(Regional Bus) to get on the bus.
    (The real location of the ticketing offices would be a little bit different from those on the map, but it is nearby the region of number 10.)
    You can purchase a bus ticket for the Daejeon Government Complex (jeong-bu Cheong-sa) and you can pay by credit card or cash.
    (Fare: KRW 23,100 / Night Fair: KRW 27,700)

    Note: The limousine bus company at the airport does not accept some international credit cards. You may need to bring some cash. Just in case there are no buses that you can take immediately, you’d better make a reservation previously for the bus on the below website:

  • Step 3

    Get off the bus at the Government Complex bus stop.

    • It takes about 3 hours from Incheon International Airport to the Daejeon Government Complex.
    • The limousine bus is non-stop except one time of rest (about 10~15 minutes) at highway resting place.
    • Once you arrive in Daejeon Government Complex Bus Terminal, use the taxi stands next to the bus terminal.
  • Step 4

    Take a taxi from the bus stop to your accommodation or KAIST Main Campus.

    Lotte City hotel is located in Doryong-dong, and it will cost about KRW 7,000.
    Please show the following phrase to the taxi driver if necessary.
    “대전(도룡동) 롯데 시티 호텔로 가주세요 (Please take me to Lotte City hotel Daejeon).”

    KAIST Main Campus is located in Guseong-dong, and it will cost about KRW 5,000.

    After collecting your luggage, go to the transit center on B1.

  • Step 3

    Go to the ticketing office marked on the map and purchase a bus ticket for the Daejeon Government Complex (jeong-bu Cheong-sa). You can pay by credit card or cash. (Fare: KRW 23,100 / Night Fair: KRW 27,700)

  • Step 1

    After collecting your luggage, go to floor B1 of the Airport.
    Follow the “Airport Railroad” signs to arrive at the train station.
    (Tip: “Airport Railroad” is indicated by “yellow-colored letters on the arrival floor of Incheon Airport as you can see the picture as below.)

  • Step 2

    Purchase a ticket for Seoul Station. Tickets can be purchased at the information center.
    Fare: All-Stop train (KRW 4,750) / Express Train (KRW 9,000)

  • Step 3

    Once at Seoul Station, Purchase a KTX ticket bound for Daejeon. (Fare: KRW 23,700)

  • Step 4

    Take a taxi from the bus stop to your accommodation or KAIST Main Campus.

I recommend this option because it’s more convenient: you can use vending machines for bus tickets.

At the International terminal, You can take the town bus to Daejeon by buying the bus ticket through the automatic ticketing machines.

Steps

  • 1. After collecting your luggage, purchase a bus ticket for the Daejeon Government Complex (Fare: KRW 14,300).
  • 2. Bus Time Table: 7:30, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 17:00, 18:50, 20:30
  • 3. Make an exit at Gate 2, and take an Airport Town Bus (Limousine Bus) for the Daejeon Government Complex.
  • 4. Get off at the Government Complex bus stop (“jeon-bu Cheong-sa” in Korean).
  • 5. Please take a taxi from the stop to your accommodation (hotel) or KAIST Main Campus.
    • Please show this phrase to the taxi driver if necessary.

Option 2 is a little bit complicated. But If you want to buy a ticket from the ticketing office, please take this option.

To buy a bus ticket from the ticketing office, you have to go to the Domestic terminal.
First of all, after collecting your luggage, please take the airport shuttle at the platform no. 5.
And then get off the bus at the platform no.8. Please refer to the following map and table for details.

  • 1. After purchasing a bus ticket from the ticketing office, make an exit at Gate 2, 11-1.
      ※ Note : The limousine bus company at the airport does not accept some international credit cards. You may need to bring some cash.
  • 2. Bus Time Table : 7:30, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00, 17:00, 18:50, 20:30
  • 3. Take an Airport Town Bus (Limousine Bus) (Fare: KRW 14,300) for the Daejeon Government Complex.

    • - You can take an AREX on the third basement level (B3).
    • - Fare: KRW 1,450
  • 3. Once at Seoul Station, Purchase a KTX ticket bound for Daejeon. (Fare: KRW 23,700)
  • 4. At Daejeon Station, take a taxi to your Accommodation (Lotte City Hotel Daejeon) or KAIST Main Campus.
    • Lotte City hotel is located in Doryong-dong, and it will cost about KRW 12,000.
