Greetings
KAIST Advanced Institute for Science-X
The role and importance of basic science is increasingly highlighted as a source of creation of future technology.
Innovative promotion of basic science is essential as a driving force to lead the nation’s continued growth and the future of humankind.
KAIX was established in May 2018 as a global hub for basic science to foster Korea’s basic science to the global level through KAIST, a prestigious institution for science and engineering.
Through various support programs, KAIX encourages constant exchanges among the world’s top scholars and KAIST faculty and researchers, discovery and exchange of innovative research ideas, and free research and academic activities, and also facilitates influential research based on joint global research.
In particular, KAIX is committed to providing full support for future-oriented, investigative research without specific objectives and to creating a culture to respect audacious challenges as well as failures of researchers.
KAIX has already launched efforts to revive basic science by means of exchanges and joint collaborative research among prominent scientists. Furthermore, KAIX is working to select outstanding researchers from among young basic science researchers through its human resources programs and help them grow into the next-generation leaders. KAIX is also planning to offer public speaking programs to meet the growing interest of the Korean public in basic science.
I ask for your continued interest in and support for KAIX.
