2026 Summer KAI-X Research Internship Program – FAQ
Q1. Who is eligible to apply for the KAI-X Summer Research Internship Program?
A1. Overseas undergraduate students (3rd or 4th year) and graduate students (Master’s course) majoring in Natural Sciences are eligible to apply.
Eligible fields include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Brain & Cognitive Science, and Medical Science.
Q2. What is the duration of the internship?
A2. The internship will take place from July 1 to August 14, 2026, lasting 7 weeks.
Q3. When is the application period?
A3. The application period is from January 19 to February 15, 2026, until 24:00
(Seoul Time, UTC+9).
Q4. How do I apply for the internship?
A4. Applications must be submitted ONLY via Google Form.

⭐ Applicants must be logged in to a Google account to access and submit the Google Form.
⭐ Please make sure to prepare a Google account in advance before starting your application.
The application form must be completed in English.
Q5. Can I submit more than one application?
A5. No. Each applicant may submit the Google Form ONLY ONCE.
Multiple submissions are not allowed and may result in disqualification.
Q6. Can I edit my application after submission?
A6. Yes. Applicants may edit their responses after submission using the Google Form edit link.
However, no edits will be allowed after the application deadline, and the submission is considered final at that time.
⭐ Applicants must log in with the same Google account used for submission in order to edit their application.
Q7. What documents are required for the application?
A7. Applicants must prepare the following documents:

Statement of Purpose (SOP) (approximately 1,200 characters)
-
Official Transcript
-
Letter of Recommendation
⚠️ All required documents must be combined into ONE single PDF file and uploaded to the Google Form.
Q8. What should be included in the Statement of Purpose (SOP)?
A8. The SOP must clearly include:

What you have studied so far
-
Your academic or research plan
-
Your motivation and purpose for applying
-
Your goals and research interests
Q9. How recent must the transcript and recommendation letter be?
A9. Both the Official Transcript and Letter of Recommendation must be issued within the last three (3) months as of the application deadline.
Q10. Do recommenders need to submit the recommendation letter separately?
A10. No. Recommenders do not submit documents separately.
Applicants must:

Include the recommendation letter in the single PDF file, and

Enter the recommender’s information directly in the Google Form
(Full name, email address, university affiliation, and title/position)
Q11. How does the selection process work?

Applicants must select ONE major

Applicants may choose up to TWO research fields

Final intern assignments will be determined based on program review and availability
Q12. When will the selection results be announced?
A12. Final selection results are expected to be announced in mid-April 2026.
Updates will be posted on the KAI-X website, and selected applicants will be notified individually.
Q13. What happens if my uploaded PDF file is incomplete or incorrectly formatted?
A13. Applications with missing documents, multiple PDF files, or incorrect file formats may be excluded from evaluation.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that ONE complete PDF file is uploaded before final submission.
Q14. What kind of financial support is provided?
A14. The program provides:

Round-trip airfare: Actual expenses, up to 1,000,000 KRW
-
Dormitory accommodation support: Up to 500,000 KRW
-
Living expense support: 600,000 KRW
Q15. Can I apply if I am not currently enrolled in a degree program?
A15. No. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an eligible undergraduate or Master’s program at the time of application.
